The Ultimate Fragrance for Men: Dior Sauvage EDP

There are very few fragrances that I would personally buy blindly, and I have to admit Dior Sauvage was one of those I could not ignore. For anyone that does not know this fragrance, it is known as one of the best selling fragrances of all time, which being Dior you can completely understand. Whether you are a 18 year old who's just got his drivers licence and is emitting confidence or if you are a black tie officer worker who wishes to have a professional presence, then this fragrance is for you. In this article, I will analyse Dior Sauvage's ability to make me and many others purchase this fragrance, which hopefully can steer you in the right direction so you can make your decision.

Dior Sauvage Eau De Parfum

Lets give you a bit of history to start us off. It was launched by Dior in 2018 and the nose behind this masterpiece is Francois Demachy. Many of us have seen the famous advert of Johnny Depp standing rather calmly in the middle of nowhere, but later in this article I will explain to you why this is important.

The success of any perfume is dictated by how long it stays relevant, and ultimately how much sales it generates. For a luxury global powerhouse like Dior, this is no different. To appeal to the widest customer base possible they needed to ensure the Sauvage scent contained an unbreakable DNA, meaning when you smell it, you know its Sauvage.

When you walk into a department store, or any online fragrance retailer, you can see all of the variants Dior have introduced such as the Eau de toilette, Eau de Parfum (my personal favourite) and the Parfum. Or if you really hate perfumes, then you can get the body spray, after shave lotion and even a bar of soap. A fragrance can only release this many products using the same core DNA scent, is because it has a mainstream market appeal, but with the Dior flair.

Notes

Top Notes: Bergamot

Middle Notes: Sichuan Pepper, Lavender, Star Anise, Nutmeg

Base Notes: Ambroxan, Vanilla

Dior wanted to create a fragrance that represented a wide open space but had the crisp note that reminds you of a fresh breeze underneath the desert sun. Dior evokes this and a lot more.

Dior Sauvage's scent is initially sweet with the fresh and clean note of bergamot which makes this an easy blind buy. However, the Dior flair is driven through the use of pepper, lavender and of course the combination of vanilla and nutmeg. Dior Sauvage's middle and base notes slowly start to reveal their mature and cosy scent that combines perfectly with the fresh and clean top note. This makes this fragrance ideal for any occasion as it retains its fresh and clean vibe, whilst the pepper and vanilla give the sophistication required to make this last at least 8 hours.

Overall, Sauvage is a masculine fragrance that encases the feeling of a vast open desert environment that dies down to allow a crisp fresh breeze to create a calming, sweet and airy fragrance. With this being one of the best selling mens fragrance, I would not let it stop you from making a purchase. This DNA is a must have in your fragrance collection, perfect for dates, interviews or even the gym, this fragrance is a do it all.

Final Tip: If you can buy the biggest available bottle, as I regret not doing so.
