I have found that almost everything written about Versace Eros to be true, it is undeniably aromatic, fresh and sweet fragrance that encapsulates the Mediterranean in a bottle. Before we dive into this fragrance, we have to discuss the elephant in the room, Eros. In Greek religion, Eros means "God of Love" therefore for Versace to represent this passion and seductiveness in a scent, they needed to unleash the true ethos of Greece. In my opinion, they have nailed this, and through this article I will analyse Eros' ability to make me purchase this fragrance, which hopefully can steer you in the right direction so you can make your decision.
I have to admit, when purchasing this fragrance I thought I was adding a relatively niche brand to my collection, to some extent that is true. However, shopping in department stores countless of times, I have never noticed the Versace range on any of the shelves. Immediately after purchasing this fragrance, I could not walk into a store and not recognize Versace Eros, it was everywhere. I am sure all of us have experienced this once in our lifetime. But, this will not change my opinion of this fragrance, simply put, there is no better fragrance that represents the vibe of summer time Mediterranean.
Eros Versace Eau De Toilette
Launched by Versace in 2012, and according to Donatella Versace (Sister of the Founder of Versace) Eros aimed to fit the fragrance into the brand's concept of creating significant statements that withstand the test of time through quality and popularity. To turn this ambition into a reality, this task was assigned to Aurelien Guichard. With his track record in creating fragrances such as Gucci Pour Homme and Armani Prive Blue. His ambition was to create a fragrance that embodied the DNA of the house of Versace.

The ingredients that make Eros so pleasing to smell is its fresh and fruity top note which captures our attention. With the introduction of oak moss and a distinctive cedar and tonka bean base, the aromatic and citrus surface transforms to a tranquil aromatic musk.
Like the bottle's design, Eros introduces itself with an overdose of fresh and fruity, which is backed up by its aromatic backdrop. The combination of mint, apple and lemon recreate the breeze of the Mediterranean, whilst tonka bean immediately reveals itself to give a warming and seductive aroma. Ambroxan is cleverly used to provide a deeper musk that provides a lightweight and oceanic scent which supports the Greek fresh vibe. Whilst the fragrance matures, the fruity and sweet vanilla persist, allowing the cedar foundation to create a gourmand note that combine all the elements together, assisting in appealing this fragrance to either a younger or maturer adult.
Eros' ability to reveal its many layers in a rapid fashion is typical of the Versace brand, as this statement fragrance does not hide away from its true identity. Being a fruity, aromatic and woody fragrance, Eros' long lasting performance is surprisingly impressive. Even though the mint, apple and lemon top note is short lived. Eros' ambroxan, vanilla and wood base retain the scent DNA throughout the day, giving you the perfect sillage for many occasions.
Considering Eros' vibrant and aromatic appeal, it has the ability to perform well in all seasons all thanks to its middle and base note composition. Aromatic scents such as this work incredibly well during spring due to its lighter and fresh notes which travel perfectly into the summer months. I think that Eros targets either a young or mature adult, depending on the outfit and the occasion, but this fragrance is perfectly made for dates, clubbing or late night beach walks.
Overall, Eros' value is the best part of the deal, it is a relatively affordable fragrance (£65 for 100ml) which for Versace is worth the investment. For anyone looking for fragrance that can be worn anywhere and anytime of the year, without busting the bank, this is for you. This fragrance's unique character and DNA make this suitable to become anyone signature scent. Its versatility and unique story makes Eros an easy blind buy and a perfect back-up fragrance for traveling or dates.
Final Tip: Invest into the 200ml bottle, as you will use this more often than you think.
