Givenchy Gentlemen Only | Absolute

If I were to recommend a men's fragrance for date night, this would be the winner. Givenchy Gentlemen Only Absolute is perfectly created for fall and winter because of its warm and spicy DNA. There are certain perfumes that when you smell then, the best way to describe them is just by saying "wow". If you are someone that likes fragrances like Boss Bottled Intense or Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf, then you will 100% like this fragrance as they share similar qualities. Givenchy Gentlemen Only Absolute is an underrated fragrance, as its not talked about enough, but this will give you a lot of use and complements. In this article, I will share with you my thoughts and help you decide whether to add this fragrance to your collection.

Givenchy Gentlemen Only Absolute

This fragrance was launched by Givenchy in 2016, which is the latest launch of their Givenchy Gentlemen range, following the Gentlemen Only and Only Intense. There is a lot to be said for this collection, however, in my opinion Absolute is the best of the three. Arguably, Absolute has less silage potency but redirects its efforts to create a more playful, cosy and warm fragrance that will appeal to a wider audience. This sensual oriental, woody and spicy DNA is complimented perfectly by a creamy nutmeg and cinnamon middle note which lends itself to its velvety sandalwood and vanilla base.

The composition of this fragrance is not over complicated, it simply focuses on creating a warming scent that sits close to your skin. Because of this, it is the perfect fragrance for date nights, as it isn't overly confident but has the secret ingredients to grab attention, meaning be prepared to be asked "what are you wearing, it smells so good?".

Absolute has the reputation of being the "richest and most intense" out of the Gentlemen Only collection, but because of its relatively calmer projection it tends to fall under the radar. For each fragrance that I try, I always picture the occasion and outfit this scent would be partnered with. In this case, Absolute is designed to be the most dressed up out of the collection, with the image of black tie tuxedos which gives this fragrance its romantic vibe.

Overall, Givenchy Gentlemen Absolute is an underrated warm and spicy men's fragrance that is a must have for any gentlemen's collection. Perfectly designed for the colder months, this scent will give you at least 8 hours of projection and will hold itself close to your skin.

Givenchy are highly respected within the fragrance world, but tend to be left behind in comparison to Dior and Chanel. However, do not let this stop you from making a purchase. In my opinion, this scent is cleverly composed that it gives you the balance of longevity whilst maintaining its warm spicy nature throughout the day. Considering this, this fragrance can be used for many occasions and I have ended up using this fragrance for more than just date night, as it just smells so good.

Even though there are many warm spicy fragrances out there, I feel the nutmeg, vanilla and sandalwood DNA of Gentlemen Only Absolute takes this fragrance to the next level. If you are looking for a playful, creamy and spicy fragrance then this is for you.

Final Tip: Invest in the 100ml if you can find it, as you will get a lot of use from this fragrance.
