PARFUMS de MARLY Experience: Layton

My fragrance journey began back in March 2020 at the beginning of lock-down here in the United Kingdom. During this time, and working from home, I realised that there was days that I would not use any perfume (thankfully people cannot smell you across the screen). In this time I started to explore the fragrance world, and one of my inspirations, Jeremy Fragrance recommended this niche brand called "Parfums de Marly" and if I had to summarise this fragrance in three words it would be - Warm spicy genius. In this article I will explain to you why I love this fragrance and help you decide if this is a scent for you.

Layton by Parfums de Marly

To encapsulate the feeling this fragrance emits you really need to imagine yourself walking into a boutique department store in Paris, with the luxury furniture, products and atmosphere of romance surrounding the vibe of Paris. This fragrance opens with a warm, crisp scent that pulls your attention in, but the realism and quality of the ingredients give you the sense of premium, bespoke and underlying smoothness Layton possesses. The longer you wear this powerhouse the more depth it demonstrates with its tobacco smelling guaiac wood and the seductive vanilla, this fragrance is very hard not to like.

Layton was launched by Parfums de Marly in 2016 which the YouTube Fragrance Reviewer Jeremy Fragrance claims it took Parfums de Marly to the "next level" of market appeal and power. The nose behind this fragrance is Hamid Merati-Kashani, who is known for creating scents for successful niche fragrance brands such as, Initio Parfums Prives. Layton is an oriental floral fragrance for either men or women, but the key to this fragrance is how you wear it. Sweet, warm and spicy fragrances are versatile for either men or women, but pairing this scent with the correct outfit and wearing it with confidence is the secret to unleashing the Paris vibes that Layton brings to the table.

Notes

Top Notes: Apple, Lavender, Orange, Bergamot

Middle Notes: Geranium, Violet, Jasmine

Base Notes: Vanilla, Cardamom, Sandalwood, Pepper, Patchouli, Guaiac Wood

I have to take my hat off for this fragrance as Parfums de Marly have created a DNA that emit power, confidence but in a calming and gentle way. With the sweet and fresh top note partnered with the floral middle notes and finishing off with the woody, peppery base. This allows Layton to last all day, whilst the fragrance continues to develop and transform.

This fragrance retails around £200 for 125ml, which I can say will last you a while as you will only need to use this lightly to get the sillage performance to last the day. If you are looking for a spring, autumn or winter time fragrance that grabs attention and impress a certain person, then this is for you. This can become anyone's signature fragrance, as the seductive oriental vibe combined with an intense woody vanilla DNA will definitely get people asking - who smells so good.

Final Tip: Use this fragrance when you want to stand out but emit class, sophistication and most of all the traits of a calm leader.
